<p>The Vessel Boarding and Security Team is located at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore, Md.&nbsp;Their mission is to detect, deter, and respond to terrorist activity&nbsp;and ensure the safety and security of&nbsp;critical infrastructure in the <st1:place u1:st="on"><st1:placetype u1:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Port of <st1:placename u1:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Baltimore</st1:placename></st1:placename></st1:placetype></st1:place>. The VBST performs more than 100 boardings a year in the <st1:place w:st="on">Upper <st1:place u1:st="on">Chesapeake Bay</st1:place></st1:place> and the National Capital Region on commercial vessels. There are currently seven active duty members and 29 reserve members&nbsp;serving with the VBST. Members of the VBST go through extensive law enforcement training, weapons training&nbsp;and first responder training&nbsp;such as&nbsp;first aid and CPR. The VBST&nbsp;conducts training both internally and externally with its federal, state and local law enforcement partners</st1:placetype></st1:place>.</p>
