Coast Guard, good Samaritan rescue 2 near Point Pleasant, N.J.

POINT PLEASANT, N.J. - The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued two people aboard a 41-foot boat after it caught fire 29 miles off the coast of Point Pleasant Wednesday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 11:51 a.m. from a crewmember aboard the Eagles II reporting the pleasure craft LC4 is on fire and the two people aboard are in a life raft near it.

The crew of the good Samaritan boat Sea Sue transferred both people from the life raft to their boat.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet, N.J., arrived on scene and transferred the two people to their boat. The rescue boat transported the two people back to the station.

No injuries were reported.
