BAHIA MALAGA, Colombia - BM1 Richard Gonzalez from the International Training Division based at Training Center Yorktown, Va., trains a member of the Chilean navy how to properly hand cuff a member of the Colombian coast guard. ITD was in Bahia Malaga Sunday with 18 ships and two submarines providing basic law enforcement training for UNITAS representing the U.S. Coast Guard along with the Cutter Forward. UNITAS is a Spanish phrase that stands for "togetherness." The purpose of UNITAS is to foster cooperation and develop naval interoperability in the region. Six nations are participating in UNITAS including Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and the United States.
