SURF CITY, N.C. - The Coast Guard suspended their search for a missing swimmer near the Surf City pier Sunday morning.
Saturday, Fire and Rescue crews saw a swimmer struggling in the water about 200 yards from the pier, lost sight of the person and called the Coast Guard for help at about 8 p.m.
Crews from the Coast Guard, Marines, and Surf City Fire and Rescue searched Saturday night for a missing swimmer, but were unable to find anyone. The search was suspended after boat and aircraft searches at first light Sunday morning.
There were no reports of any missing persons.
