PORTSMOUTH, Va. - A Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach, N.C., rescue boat crew rescued a man from a capsized vessel 2 nautical miles off the coast of Carolina Beach, N.C., Friday evening.

At approximately 6:38 p.m., Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector North Carolina, received a call from the man aboard the vessel via channel 16 vhf radio, stating that his 16-foot vessel had capsized, and he was on the hull of the vessel out of the water.

A Coast Guard Auxiliary mobile unit was dispatched to the pier and maintained visual contact with the vessel and man until the 41-foot rescue boat crew from Station Wrightsville beach arrived on scene to rescue him.

The rescue boat crew reported the man to be wearing a life jacket.
