BEAUFORT INLET, N.C. - The Coast Guard medevaced a crewmember of the Coast Guard Cutter Northland near Beaufort Inlet Thursday afternoon after he suffered chest pains.

The crew of the Northland contacted Sector North Carolina watchstanders at approximately 12 p.m. requesting that the member be medevaced.

The Coast Guard duty flight surgeon reviewed the case and determined that he be given oxygen and aspirin, and also decided that he should be taken to the nearest hospital.

He was treated and released.
