HAMPTON, Va. - The Coast Guard invites media members to attend the 4th annual Search and Rescue Forum at the Hamtpon Dockmaster's Facility in Hampton 7:45 a.m. Friday.
WHAT: The annual SAR forum is a three-day-long event involving classroom and hands-on training, equipment demonstration, and underway search and rescue drills - all geared toward enhancing agency cooperation and safety around Hampton Roads.
WHO: The Coast Guard, Virginia Port Authority's Marine Incident Response Team, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and several state and local agencies involved in search and rescue operations in the Hampton Roads area. Interviews will be available with Coast Guard Lt. Jack Smith and Capt. Bill Burket of the MIRT.
WHERE: The Hampton Dockmaster's office at 756 Settlers Landing Rd, Hampton, Va. 23669.
WHEN: Media members should arrive at the office at 7:45 a.m. A drill briefing will take place at 8 a.m. Interviews will be available beginning 8:30 a.m. Attendees will have a chance to get underway at 9:30 a.m. on a staff boat for an opportunity to film and photograph the search and rescue exercise.
