Portsmouth, Va., becomes 9th Coast Guard City

Coast Guard district commander reads proclimation to Portsmouth mayor

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth Mayor James W. Holley III stands alongside Coast Guard Rear Adm. Wayne E. Justice, commander of the Fifth Coast Guard District, as Justice reads the proclamation announcing Portsmouth's selection as a Coast Guard City during a ceremony at the Lightship Portsmouth Museum Wednesday.

The Coast Guard City, USA, designation recognizes the contributions of a city to the Coast Guard men and women who live and work there.
