ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - An MH-60T Jayhawk aircraft crew from Air Station Elizabeth City prepares to lower a rescue swimmer to help hoist Andrea Tardini to safety Thursday morning, from his disabled sailboat Croc, approximately 100 miles from Cape Lookout, N.C. Two helicopter crews and two HC-130J Hercules aircraft crews were used to rescue Tardini and Sophie Bélend after their sailboat was disabled in severe weather Wednesday. Bélend was rescued at about 2 a.m. Thursday, but the helicopter crew was unable to hoist Tardini due to quickly deteriorating weather. Both Tardini and Bélend were brought to Air Station Elizabeth City. The couple had departed Norfolk, Va., on their way to the Bahamas. (U.S. Coast Guard Video/Lt.j.g.
