Coast Guard searches for man near Fisherman's Island, Va.

CAPE CHARLES, Va. – Coast Guard, Virginia Marine Police, Hampton Fire and Virginia Beach Fire boat crews are searching for a man who is reported to be missing near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in the vicinity of Fisherman’s Island Friday morning.

Missing is Joseph Coley, 41, of Portsmouth.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on the North Channel high rise early Friday morning and identified that it was registered to Coley.

CBBT police notified Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads watchstanders at about 12:45 a.m. and requested their assistance to find the man. Two MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crews from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and a Station Cape Charles 41-foot rescue boat crew have been involved in the search.
