The Coast Guard received a call at 5:24 p.m. from a member of Tow Boat U.S. reporting a 40-foot boat had run aground and was taking on water near Little Egg Inlet.

A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and hoisted the two people aboard the helicopter and transported them to the air station where they were transferred to awaiting medical personnel.
