PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The Coast Guard medevaced a 31-year-old cruise ship crewmember off the coast of Cape Hatteras, N.C., 11:30 a.m. Friday.
A crewmember of the 861-foot cruise ship Carnival Miracle contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at the 5th District in Portsmouth Thursday at 8:15 p.m. stating one of their crewmembers suffered head lacerations after a cabinet fell on him. The Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended that a medevac by helicopter be conducted.
A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., arrived on scene and transported the man to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital for treatment.
