Chief Fabbo retirement

Chief Fabbo retirement
PHILADELPHIA - Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Andrew Fabbo (at left) is presented a shadow box during his retirement ceremony at the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay facility here Thursday, May 17, 2007. Fabbo, originally from Malden, Mass., retired after more than 27 years of active duty; he entered the Coast Guard in August of 1979. Fabbo is one of the few Coast Guardsmen today who can state that they were stationed on a lightship. Lightships were vessels used as aids to mark safe navigational channels and have not been used in the United States since 1985. He served aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket II from October 1979 to July 1982. Fabbo plans on following his retirement with a move to Millington, Michigan, with his wife, Lynn, who retired from the Coast Guard in March. U.S. Coast Guard photograph by Cmdr.
