Acevedo and Loerch were among nearly a dozen volunteers from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City, N.J., who spent their morning collecting trash from Brigantine's beaches. As National Volunteer Week comes to an end Saturday, and with Earth Day approaching on Sunday, the crew wanted to do something that helps the community. "Although our folks are from all over the country, this is our home now," said Lt. Jason Ingram, commanding officer of Station Atlantic City.
