UPDATE VIDEO RELEASE: Coast Guard investigates capsizing near Barnegat Light, NJ

BARNEGAT LIGHT, N.J. — The Coast Guard is investigating the capsizing of a 44-foot fishing vessel 10 miles east of here Wednesday, resulting in one death while another crewmember was rescued by a good Samaritan.

Investigating officers at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia are leading the investigation on the Mandy Ness' capsizing after its emergency position indicating radio beacon was set off at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday notifying the Coast Guard.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the Mandy Ness' crew. We are actively investigating the cause of the incident," said Capt. Meredith Austin, commander of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay.

The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City and a 47-foot Motor Life Boat and crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light.

The crew of the fishing vessel Francis Ann heard the broadcast and arrived on scene where they rescued one of the two crewmembers.

The Dolphin crew medevaced the unresponsive crewmember from the water and who was then transferred to emergency medical personnel and transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus in Pomona.

The person was pronounced deceased by the medical examiner at the hospital.
