PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard, federal, state and local agencies as well as industry and private stakeholders are scheduled to hold a mass rescue operation, full-scale exercise to establish processes and procedures to prevent, mitigate and respond to a passenger vessel emergency in the Delaware Bay Wednesday.
WHO: Coast Guard, federal, state and local agencies as well as industry and private stakeholders.
WHAT: The exercise will test the effectiveness of response efforts from the Coast Guard and partner agencies during a mass rescue operation under realistic conditions.
WHEN: Sept. 21 at 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Coast Guard Training Center, 1 Munro Ave., Cape May, N.J.
WHY: The exercise is designed to simulate an emergency aboard a passenger vessel or a mass rescue operation, which may overwhelm normal search and rescue capabilities. The exercise aims to ensure a coordinated strategy is in place for an effective outcome.

Media will be escorted throughout the exercise site for safety and to conduct interviews and gain access to the operational drill beginning at 1 p.m.
